Down the steps to lower expectations….and a final table tonight.
Well, I had two shots at a bigger game with my the CPT events. And I missed the money in both. So did I learn anything?
I hope so. I played a $60 freezeout tonight with a 104 player starting field. 15 minute levels, 4k starting chips, blinds that skip and escalate fast. A rude awakening, but more realistic to my bankroll.
The good news is I made final and finished in 8th and the money. There isn\’t much I could have done differently to finish higher and still play my best game. I am definatley past blinding out in hopes others get railed, when I have equal oppurtunity to go for first.
The hand that slowed me down was pocket tens. I had 39k and blinds were 5/10k. With 428k chips in play for the entire field, we where all in the same boat. UTG pushes 23k in, making a 38k pot preflop and this is a no brainer. He opens up KJ and we race.
The king on the turn left me sitting with enough for one rotation. I put this in a multiway pot with QJ. It was a good situation because a smaller stack was all in, giving me two ways to advance in the money, great odds and a checked down hand with a chance for a side.
Can\’t ask for even half those edges in most hands.
Not bad for the confidence. A step back down but a step in the right direction.
