Well, we all had a fricken blast!  Vegas was scortching hot, as promised, hitting 57 degrees Celsius one afternoon.  Didn\’t matter though, the snazzy poker room at the Hard Hotel and Casino was air conditioned and the poker was great.

I played 2 events.

One was an Industry night rebuy, with some fun players that included my wife Brenna,  Kelly Kellner, owner of the Canadian Poker Tour and Heads Up Entertainment, Herb Van Dyke, owner of World Poker Showdown and Jimmy Miller, a well known director for places like the Hard Rock, WPS, the Hustler in LA an many more.

With the field of 6 starting tables thinned to 2 tables and blinds and antes kicking in, Micky the floor manager for the Hard Rock room shoved a decent stack all in from the button.  With KK on the small blind it was an instant call.

He rolls QJ and I am feeling great!  The flop comes A, 10, 4 and I am pleased and request that I don\’t make a set.  The turn is harmless, but wouldn\’t you know it, my king hits and I am railed by 2 outing myself.  Ahhh poker, (sigh).

The next event I played was the $340 Mega Deepstack.  It was a field of mostly pro players and although small at 25, one of the friendliest and toughest bunch I have played.  There were alot of great and tricky hands.  I made one call that I was very proud of and got a little praise from my peers.  I got tangled in a few fun but tricky spots.  I played a few hands that I regret,  particulaly at final.

But this was my first WPS/CPT final table, so a stepping stone just the same.  It took us 7 hours to get down to 10, and I lasted another hour and a half from there.  No money as only 3 spots paid.

Players where from all over the world, and CPT and WPS know how to have a good time. Kelly and Herb took great care of us and that I am very thankfull for.

I still don\’t know how to play craps, but the \”Kelster\” sure cleaned up!  I had a go at playing anchor in a single deck Black Jack game and we did pretty not bad.

Great Value, great players and my family all partied with me.  We hit Circus Circus, ate like kings and queens, went to all the popular spots and soaked in the pool. My father and law got all the cool pics he was hoping for in old Vegas.  Binions, the Golden Nugget, Fremont Street, what more of a good time can be had?

The drive down is incredible, with virtually every landscape available on the planet.  The kids won\’t ever let us do Vegas alone again, lol.
